The mining operation at the Kyrgiosk Nickel mine in the Vangasert region of Kyrgystan is a subsidiary of a Chinese company called Vodapro.
The Vodacom group, owned by Chinese state-owned coal mining giant China National Offshore Oil Corporation, is a mining arm of China’s state-controlled Coal Mining Corporation, which has its headquarters in China.
Vodapros owns an estimated 75 percent of Kyrgias nickel ore mines.
A statement on the company’s website said the Voda Group is a “major supplier of nickel, copper and iron ore” to Kyrgyzes nickel and copper industry, including Vodas Nickel Ore Mines in Kyrgyzan.
Its website also said the company “is the major supplier of ore to China’s major steel and cement industries and is the biggest supplier of iron ore to the Chinese steel industry.”
The statement said Voda is the largest nickel producer in Kyrgies nickel and steel mining sector.
It said Vodalco mines ore at its Vodan ore fields in Kyrghizstan.
Vodas mines copper ore in Kyrgzstan and has an estimated 1.3 million tonnes of copper.
It has said it was investing $4 billion in its Kyrgyazstan operations.
The statement did not mention the mine’s name.
The Kyrgygzstan government has not publicly released the number of employees and other information about the company.
